DESCRIPTION
The master’s degree programme provides deep theoretical knowledge and practical skills in psychological and pedagogical support of higher education, vocational education, additional education and professional training, as well as psychological and pedagogical assistance to students who have difficulties in learning educational programmes, developing, social adaptation, and research.
In the course of studies master’s degree students acquire knowledge and skills in psychology and pedagogy to perform professional activity, its components being learning, socialization, individuality and personality development of students, their health, health saving educational technologies, psychological and pedagogical and social support of relations between participants in educational organizations.
Forms of in-class activity: lectures, seminars, laboratory classes, review sessions, and students’ individual work.
AIMS
psychological and pedagogical activity:
• providing optimal conditions of comprehensive psychological, social and cultural development of children;
• developing psychological and pedagogical projects encouraging effective interaction of educational relations participants;
• organizing educational environment which provides development correction of students who have difficulties in studies, behaviour and interpersonal interaction;
• organizing and conducting monitoring research; developing and implementing research and practical projects; analyzing, generalizing and presenting results of their professional activity;
• designing and creating psychologically comfortable and safe educational environment;
• organizing interdisciplinary psychological and pedagogical, social and rehabilitation research and other events in interacting with specialists of related professions;
• establishing interpersonal contacts and communication between educational relations participants in conditions of poly-cultural environment;
• controlling psychological development of students at each level of education in educational establishments;
• developing and implementing educational programmes in psychology and pedagogy, programmes of increasing psychological competence of educational relations participants;
• performing psychological diagnostics, correction and development work, psychological counselling of students and their parents (legal representatives), psychological prevention work in educational establishments;
• applying personality-focused measures to reduce or eliminate deviations in psychological or personality development of students; developing education routes taking into account individual features of students and their age;
• developing and implementing programmes of prevention and correction of deviations and asocial behaviour of teenagers;
• organizing and managing project and research work of students;
• organizing and conducting events on career guidance and professional identity of students;
• evaluating the educational environment;
• developing projects on team building in educational and social organizations;
research activity:
• analyzing, systemizing and generalizing the results of research in psychology and pedagogy;
• developing methods of psychological and pedagogical research with the use of modern tools of processing results, databases and information;
• designing research, implementing research and social projects in education, culture, social protection and health care;
• analyzing and generalizing the results of research, development, pedagogical and other social projects in psychological and pedagogical field;
• evaluating educational programmes, projects, psychological and pedagogical technologies from the point of view of their relevance to age-related ability of students and to modern psychological approaches in developmental, pedagogical and social psychology;
• developing methods and tools for diagnosing developmental deviations;
• developing and implementing programmes of increasing psychological competence of educational relations participants;
• studying patterns and specific features of development of students with various psychological and physical deviations in different conditions, including remedial teaching.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• conduct diagnostics of students’ psychological development;
• design prevention and remedial programmes;
• develop the strategy of individual and group remedial work with students based on the results of their psychological development diagnostics;
• conduct the educational environment diagnostics, identify the reasons of problems in studies, behaviour, and development of students;
• counsel pedagogical staff on issues of optimizing educational activity;
• identify problems and prospects in career guidance and professional identity of teenagers in the system of general and additional education;
• build the system of additional education in a particular organization as a favourable environment for developing the personality, interests and abilities of each student;
• create the system of project and research activity of students on their own and in a team;
• organize the interaction of specialists to achieve the research goals, and manage socialization of the research results;
• research and evaluate social characteristics of all participants of the educational process; to apply the research results to optimize the process of their interaction.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The graduates are employed in education (in general, vocational, additional and professional educational establishments), in culture, health care, and in social sphere. On successful completion of the programme the graduates can take a post-graduate course in psychological sciences.
