All-Russian science-to-practice conference "New Image of Social Law: Practices in the Russian Federation and the European Union" held at PSU

Penza State University hosted the All-Russian science-to-practice conference “New Image of Social Law: Practices in the Russian Federation and the European Union” 20 May 2022. The event was piloted and organised by the research group on EU social law, which was created within the project “Social Security Law in the European Union” (EUSOSEL) under the ERASMUS+ Programme.

In addition to the members of the research group, the conference brought together graduate and postgraduate students, teachers and researchers from Penza State University and other Russian higher education institutions, namely G.R. Derzhavin Tambov State University, South Federal University and Higher School of Economics. The conference was held the blended format, so that non-resident participants joined online and Penza speakers participated face-to-face.

In total, 20 scientific reports were presented at the conference. The conference participants considered the theoretical aspects and main trends in the development of social law and social state in the Russian Federation and in the European Union. The practices of exercising social law in the Russian and European contexts were also explored. The conference participants formulated the key areas of social law in the context of modern political and economic challenges.

Moreover, the EUSOSEL project team briefly presented the information about the newly developed module “Social Security Law in the European Union” offered for the Bachelor degree students since 1 February within the EUSOSEL project. They shared the plans on delivering the professional training course “European Union practices of fighting poverty and social exclusion” for the representatives of local and regional authorities engaged in social protection, as well as lawyers, economists, social workers and law teachers.
