DESCRIPTION
The mission of the programme is to provide a high level of bachelor's degree training in accordance with the existing and projected needs of enterprises and institutions in Russia. The programme aims to train highly qualified personnel capable of performing quality management work on products (services) at all stages of its life cycle, performing metrological support for the development, production, testing and operation of products (services), carrying out work to confirm the conformity of products (services) and quality management systems of organizations.
AIMS
research activity:
• studying scientific and technical information of Russian and foreign experience in metrology, standardization, certification, and quality control;
• modelling processes and measurement tools, tests, and control using standard automated design packages and tools;
• conducting experiments in accordance with set methods, processing and analysing results, writing research descriptions, preparing data for scientific reviews and publications;
• writing scientific reports on fulfilled task and the implementation of research results and developments in the fields of metrology, standardisation, and certification.
design activity:
• collecting and analysing initial data for designing tools for measurement, control, and testing;
• calculating and designing components and nodes of measurement, control and testing tools and benches in accordance with technical specifications using standard design automation tools;
• developing working design and technological documentation in the field of metrological and regulatory support of product quality and safety, formalising finished design works;
• managing the compliance of projects and technical documentation under development with technical regulations, standards, conditions, and other regulatory documents.
production and technological activity:
• implementing measures for improving the product quality and metrological support, developing new standards and revising existing ones, as well as rules, norms, and other documents related to standardisation, certification, metrological support, and quality control;
• mastering system control systems in practice;
• verifying the compliance of products and production processes and services to the requirements of technical regulations, standards, and contract terms;
• developing local verification schemes according to the types and instruments of measurements, conducting verification and calibration of measuring instruments;
• conducting a metrological examination of design and technological documentation;
• identifying the nomenclature of measured and controlled parameters of products and technological processes;
• setting optimal norms for measurement and control accuracy;
• developing plans, programmes, and methods for conducting measurements, tests, and control, equipment manuals, and other documents included in the design and operational documentation;
• applying modern information technologies when designing tools and technologies of metrological support, standardisation, and verification of compliance with set norms;
• conducting preliminary technical and economic justification of project solutions related to metrological support and quality control.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• analyse the tasks of professional activity on the basis of the provisions, laws and methods in the field of natural sciences and mathematics;
• formulate the tasks of professional activity on the basis of knowledge of specialised sections of mathematical and natural science disciplines;
• use fundamental knowledge in the field of standardisation and metrological support for professional improvement;
• evaluate the effectiveness of the development results in the field of standardisation and metrological support;
• solve the problems of the development of science and technology in the field of standardisation and metrological support, taking into account the regulatory framework in the field of intellectual property;
• make scientifically sound decisions in the field of standardisation and metrological support based on methods of system and functional analysis;
• set up and perform experiments to verify the correctness and effectiveness of scientifically based solutions in the field of standardisation and metrological support.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
A graduate of the programme is able to occupy the position of a quality engineer, a product process quality management engineer, a product certification engineer, a metrological engineer, a chief quality manager, and a chief quality specialist.
