DESCRIPTION

The formation of general professional and professional competencies in accordance with this programme is aimed at training professionals capable of sociological analysis and scientific explanation of social phenomena and processes based on scientific theories, concepts, approaches, and participation in sociological research at all stages of its implementation. The most important task is to develop graduates' ability to identify socially significant problems and identify ways to solve them based on theoretical knowledge and the results of sociological research. The professional qualities of graduates created during the development of the programme imply developed abilities to design sociological research and organize work on data collection, analysis and interpretation of sociological research data, organization of marketing research and formation of recommendations based on its results. The purpose of this programme is to prepare graduates who combine a high level of professionalism and enthusiasm, developed creativity and rational thinking; a broad outlook and understanding of the specifics of the social development of countries and regions, the peculiarities of the social characteristics of various social groups, communities and collectives, a balanced assessment of global processes and patriotism. Graduates of this programme acquire knowledge, skills and abilities that allow them to independently analyse social relations and processes for theoretical and practical purposes.

AIMS

research activity:
•    preparing and conducting fundamental and applied sociological research at the stages of planning, collecting, processing, and analysing data;
•    identifying problems of sociological significance and formulating solutions based on sociological theory and the results of sociological research;
•    processing relevant empirical information involving a wide range of sources based on the use of modern information technology, computers and communication means;
•    interpreting sociological research data and other empirical information using the explanatory power of sociological theory;
•    writing reports, analytical notes, professional publications, and research information materials;
•    presenting research results with presentations on research topics;
•    formulating practical recommendations based on the results of marketing research;
•    developing and conducting research on diagnosing, assessing, and optimising social indicators, processes, and relations.

social and technological activity:
•    developing methodological tools, regulatory documents, and information materials for conducting research, analytical and consulting socio-technological activities;
•    implementing scientific, methodological, technical, and information support for marketing research for various target audiences, elaborating recommendations for marketing services.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    comprehend the operational principles of modern information technology and apply them for solving tasks of professional activities;
•    conduct sociological analysis and provide scientific explanation for social phenomena and processes based on scientific theories, concepts, and approaches;
•    participate in sociological research at all stages of its implementation;
•    identify problems of social significance and solutions based on theoretical knowledge and the results of sociological research;

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Mastering the programme allows graduates working in the field of education and science to carry out the labour functions necessary for organising sociological research and using their results to evaluate and predict social processes and phenomena, as well as to develop practical recommendations in the field of marketing policy of the organisation.
