DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the programme is to develop students' ability to carry out professional activities in the system of special and inclusive education. Graduates are capable of independent and creative implementation of remedial, pedagogical, diagnostic, advisory, preventive, research activities on a wide range of professional tasks. The programme trains specialists capable of implementing innovative methods, technologies, and techniques for accompanying people with speech disorders.

AIMS

training activity:
•    conducting remedial and developmental training and education in the fields of education, social security, and healthcare, in accordance with the requirements of educational standards, directed at students with disabilities, including through the use of alternative and additional communication method, as well as assistive tools and technologies;
•    applying technologies corresponding to the age characteristics of students with disabilities, the characteristics of their general and speech development, individual characteristics, and those reflecting the specifics of the content areas of adapted educational programmes in subject, remedial and developmental fields, including through the use of distance educational technologies and e-learning;
•    ensuring protection of life and health for students with disabilities during the remedial and educational process.

project activity:
•    setting and solving project and research tasks in the field of special and inclusive education.

methodological activity:
•    planning training activities, selecting and using methodological support and technical means for implementing educational and/or rehabilitation programmes;
•    developing programme and methodological support for educational programmes and programmes of remedial assistance for individuals with disabilities, including through the use of assistive tools and technologies for organising alternative and additional forms of communication.

organisation and management activity:
•    forming an educational environment for ensuring education quality, including through the use of information technology;
•    using educational environment capacities for identifying and implementing special educational needs, as well as providing quality education for students with disabilities, including the management of electronic documentation;
•    supporting the process of social adaptation for children and adults with speech disorders by specialists of an interdisciplinary team.

cultural and educational activity:
•    studying and implementing the needs of children and adults in cultural and educational activities in the field of shaping a multicultural and tolerant attitude towards people with disabilities, as well as in the culture of microsociety for people with disabilities;
•    organising a cultural space aimed at developing an inclusive educational environment, expanding the understanding of the opportunities for joint learning and education for children with different educational needs, as well as of integration and socialisation for people with disabilities;
•    organising measures to prevent and correct (minimise) undesirable and unacceptable behavioural patterns of children with speech disorders.

support activity:
•    setting and solving diagnostic tasks in order to identify current and potential abilities of a student with disabilities, identify rehabilitation potential in the field of psychological and pedagogical rehabilitation, plan the stages and content of remedial and developmental work, taking into account the special educational needs of a student with disabilities, correct the set tasks, and revise the duration and content of the planned remedial and developmental measures;
•    counselling parents or surrogate parents on teaching, educating, and developing their child with disabilities;
•    counselling teachers or other specialists supporting a student with disabilities on creating special conditions and choosing teaching technologies corresponding to the special educational needs of the student;
•    cooperating with the specialists from an interdisciplinary team to support students with speech disorders and their families.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    conduct professional activities in accordance with professional ethics and regulatory legal acts in the field of education;
•    participate in the development of basic and supplementary educational programmes, develop their separate elements, including with the use of information and communications technology;
•    organise joint and individual learning and educational activities for students, including those with special educational needs, in accordance with the requirements of federal state educational standards;
•    implement moral education for students based on basic national values;
•    implement control and assessment of students’ educational outcomes, identify and correct learning difficulties;
•    apply psychological and training technologies in professional activities necessary for individualisation of learning, development and education, including for those with special educational needs;
•    interact with the participants of educational relationships within the implementation of educational programmes;
•    implement training activities based on specialised scientific knowledge;
•    comprehend the operational principles of modern information technology and apply them for solving professional activity tasks.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The graduate is able to perform generalised pedagogical functions for the design and implementation of educational and remedial-developmental processes, as well as carry out cultural, educational and methodological work in educational organisations at the level of preschool, primary, general, basic general, secondary general, and vocational education.
