DESCRIPTION

The mission of the programme is to train highly qualified specialists with creative thinking in the field of bioecology and biochemistry, focused on successful professional activity, competitive in the labour market, taking into account regional needs in the field of wildlife research and the patterns of its existence, the use of biological systems for economic and medical purposes, nature conservation, education, who are able to use modern information technology, technologies for processing research results, capable and ready for innovative development of the region and individual organisations.

AIMS

training activity:
•    preparing and conducting classes in biology, ecology, and chemistry in organisations of general education;
•    conducting educational work, excursions, hobby club activities, etc.

research activity:
•    conducting research activity as part of a group;
•    preparing objects and developing research methods;
•    conduct biological laboratory research according to set methods;
•    selecting technical tools and working methods, operating experimental facilities, preparing equipment;
•    analysing field and laboratory biological data obtained using modern computing technologies;
•    drawing up scientific reports and bibliographies on a set topic;
•    developing new methodological approaches;
•    preparing scientific reports, reviews, publications, and patents and organising conferences.

project activity:
•    managing processes of biological production;
•    preparing and formalising scientific and technical projects, reports and patents.

organisational and management activity:
•    planning and conducting activities for nature conservation, assessment and restoration of bioresources, control and optimisation of environmental management;
•    organising field and laboratory work, seminars and conferences;
•    drawing up estimates and reports;
•    ensuring safety precautions;
•    designing an individual educational route and a vocational career.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    select and apply equipment and hardware, as well as methods for solving research tasks in the field of biology;
•    implement information support for research;
•    implement monitoring and scientific project research, including on control of biotechnological and pharmaceutical products, create data sheets for finished products;
•    implement training activities in accordance with the legal and moral standards of professional ethics;
•    develop basic and supplementary educational programmes and their separate components, including with the use of information technology;
•    organise joint and individual learning and educational activities for students, including those with special educational needs, in compliance with modern requirements;
•    organise the work of a small labour team on solving current tasks of research and development while ensuring safe working conditions;
•    organise logistical support for research and development.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of the programme will be able to realise their professional potential in research institutions, manufacturing enterprises and regulatory structures of the relevant profile, work as specialists in biological diagnostics laboratories, employees of environmental protection (Rosprirodnadzor, state reserves), sanitary, epidemiological, biochemical, and medical organisations, as well as in the field of education (biology training).
