DESCRIPTION

The mission of the programme consists in training highly qualified specialists with creative thinking in the field of molecular biology and biochemistry, focused on successful professional activity, who are competitive specialists in the labour market, taking into account regional needs in the field of research into the molecular-structural organisation of living systems and biochemical patterns of their existence, the use of biological systems for economic and medical purposes, environmental protection; who are able to use modern information technology for processing the results of conducted research, capable and ready for innovative development of scientific institutions and individual organizations.

AIMS

research activity:
•    using knowledge of fundamental laws and methodological features of conducting research in the subject area of scientific knowledge;
•    solving scientific research problems taking into account the substantive, methodological and technological aspects of the research;
•    defining scientific criteria for analysing the conformity of means, methods and technologies for obtaining new scientific knowledge with the goals and objectives of scientific research;
•    implementing information support for scientific research work through creating and maintaining electronic resources of the digital scientific environment.

project activity:
•    performing standard operations on high-tech equipment to obtain biological information;
•    developing an algorithm and methods for achieving the projected levels of their qualifications.

analytical activity:
•    obtaining genetic and biochemical characteristics of biological objects and their assessment;
•    assessing the ecological state, biological productivity and sustainability of ecosystems and biological objects using modern genetic methods;
•    examining biological objects with the help of obtained scientific research data using modern biochemical methods.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    conduct research in the field of molecular biology and genetics, to develop innovative tools, as well as algorithms for solving research tasks;
•    analyse and develop research-based methods and technologies for obtaining new scientific knowledge, as well as electronic resources of the digital scientific environment;
•    conduct project-based research in the study field, including projects with extra-budgetary funding;
•    conduct examination and environmental monitoring of biological objects and ecosystems based on obtained research data using modern genetic methods;
•    conduct expert analytical research in a biochemical laboratory.
