DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the programme is to deepen theoretical knowledge and further enhance the practical training of a resident on the basis of knowledge and skills in paediatrics acquired during university studies, necessary for further full-fledged independent work as a forensic expert with universal, general professional and professional competencies that contribute to his social mobility and stability in the labour market.

AIMS

diagnostic activity:
•    diagnosing diseases and (or) pathological conditions in children based on proficiency in propaedeutic, laboratory, instrumental and other research methods.

treatment activity:
•    providing specialised medical aid for children with diseases and (or) conditions and controlling its effectiveness and safety.

preventive activity:
•    controlling the effectiveness of measures for medical rehabilitation of children with diseases of various nature, including during implementation of individual programmes of rehabilitation or habilitation;
•    conducting medical examinations for children with diseases of various nature and medical education among their parents and controlling its effectiveness.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    examine children to make a diagnosis;
•    prescript and assess the efficacy and safety of drugs, non-drug treatments, medical products, therapeutic diets, and other treatments for children;
•    implement and control the effectiveness of individual rehabilitation programmes for children;
•    conduct preventive measures for children of various age groups and health conditions, as well as to provide health education for parents and children to shape healthy lifestyles and monitor their effectiveness;
•    conduct training activities, such as training junior medical staff;
•    analyse medical and statistical information, keep medical documentation and organise work activities of subordinate medical staff;
•    provide emergency medical aid for conditions requiring immediate medical intervention.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates are employed as paediatricians in various medical organisations.
