DESCRIPTION

The purpose of mastering this programme is to provide training for a competitive graduate in the field of adaptive physical education, who possesses personal qualities, is able to perceive and form a base of special knowledge in the field of adaptive physical education in the learning process, in accordance with recommended professional standards and the needs of the regional labour market, able to set and implement research and professional tasks, proficient in culture, organizational and professionally applied skills and motor skills, while constantly focused on a conscious attitude towards leading a healthy lifestyle and readiness for the creative realization of future professional activities. 

AIMS

training activity:
•    developing and implementing educational programmes of basic general, secondary general, secondary vocational, supplementary vocational educational and vocational training, as well as supplementary education for children and adults in the field of adapted physical education and sport.

research activity:
•    planning and conducting research of a theoretical and experimental nature in order to identify methods for improving the effectiveness of activities in adapted physical education and sport.

preventive activity:
•    developing and implementing activities to prevent the emergence and (or) progression of diseases, comorbidities and secondary disorders conditioned by the main cause, which limit physical development and human health capacity.

rehabilitation (restorative) activity:
•    developing and implementing rehabilitation and restorative activities, taking into account the age, gender, and disease nosological forms of those involved in sports, including people with disabilities, using pedagogically justified forms of organisation, means and methods of adapted physical education;
•    developing and implementing a complex of physical exercises aimed at restoring impaired functions or temporary disabilities in organisms of people with health conditions, including people with disabilities, using pedagogically justified forms of organisation, means and modern methodological approaches of adapted physical education.

developing activity:
•    developing and implementing rehabilitation and restorative activities, taking into account the age, gender, and disease nosological forms of those involved in sports, including people with disabilities, using pedagogically justified forms of organisation, means and methods of adapted physical education;
•    developing and implementing a complex of physical exercises aimed at restoring impaired functions or temporary disabilities in organisms of people with health conditions, including people with disabilities, using pedagogically justified forms of organisation, means and modern methodological approaches of adapted physical education

organisation and management activity:
•    developing and implementing a complex of activities aimed at managing organisational activities, planning, monitoring, and accounting in the field of adapted physical education and sports.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    develop pedagogical and methodological support for the implementation of the educational programme;
•    apply pedagogically justified forms, methods, means and techniques to organise student activities during the educational process;
•    define and apply forms, methods and means for monitoring and assessing the process and results of mastering the educational programme;
•    master and apply psychological and training technologies (including inclusive technologies) necessary for targeted work with various student contingents: gifted children, socially vulnerable children, children in difficult life situations, migrant children, orphaned children, children with special educational needs, children with disabilities, children with behavioural deviations, and children with addictions;
•    form and improve special physical qualities, technical and tactical fitness and improve functional abilities of organisms of athletes with disabilities of all age and nosological groups;
•    ensure the effectiveness of physical rehabilitation and habilitation of various nosological, age and gender groups, taking into account principles and forms of organising rehabilitation (restorative) activity for people with disabilities through physical education tools aimed at restoring impaired or temporarily lost functions of a human organism, as well as skills of social and vocational activity;
•    put into practice technology and methods of recreational physical education, massage, ergonomics, occupational therapy, technical means of rehabilitation;
•    determine the priority and order for conducting rehabilitation measures;
•    draw up an individual plan of physical rehabilitation and a plan for individual or group training according to the programme of physical rehabilitation for people with disabilities;
•    implement educational programmes at various levels in accordance with modern methods and technologies, including information technology, in order to ensure the quality of the educational process.
•    know the medical basics of adapted physical education;
•    draw up recommendations for the physical activity, regime of work and rest of a trainee to consolidate the results of rehabilitation and to prevent secondary and tertiary disorders, as well as to improve the functional state of the trainee’s organism;
•    conduct remedial and developing training sessions and measures to socialise trainees, form their hygienic and self-control skills, independent mobility (including by using technical means of rehabilitation of people with disabilities), self-care, and interest in systematic adapted physical education training;
•    conduct training monitoring, testing the mental and physical state of trainees during rehabilitation activities;
•    control fatigue and exercise tolerance;
•    formulate objectives for rehabilitation activities, select relevant means and methods to meet them, and regulate mental and psychophysical strain during training sessions based on the identified parameters of the organism’s functional systems;
•    define a proportion for various exercises, taking into account the specifics of a disease, age, gender, morphofunctional, individual, and psychological characteristics;
•    plan, analyse and keep records of learning and training outcomes at the stages of sport specialisation and make justified proposals to improve them;
•    take measures to improve and develop the physical infrastructure of a sports organisation;
•    plan, organise, manage and control the work of the staff of the organisation operating in the field of physical education and sports;
•    manage organising and refereeing sports competitions;
•    organise the work of specialists in anti-doping support.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates are able to carry out professional activities in special (correctional) educational institutions for children, pupils with disabilities, educational institutions of all types and types (with persons classified as special medical groups), educational institutions of additional education for children - institutions of adaptive physical culture and adaptive sports (children's and youth sports and adaptive schools, adaptive children's and youth physical training clubs), structural units for adaptive sports in educational institutions, physical culture, recreation and rehabilitation centres, medical and preventive institutions, sanatoriums and recreation centres, physical culture and recreation structures of national parks, recreational lands and in tourist clubs, public organizations of the disabled and for the disabled (federations, associations, clubs), etc., as well as in the national sports teams of various levels, federal and regional state executive authorities for physical culture and sports.
