DESCRIPTION

The aims of the programme are to ensure comprehensive and high-quality training of highly qualified, competitive specialists capable of addressing complex everyday challenges in strengthening legality and law and order, administering justice, and restoring the violated rights and freedoms of individuals and legal entities through legal means; to create conditions for students to acquire theoretical knowledge of law, master legislation, and gain practical legal skills necessary for judicial activities; and to foster personal qualities in students based on the perception of spiritual, moral, and sociocultural values, enhancing their level of legal culture and intolerance towards corruption.

AIMS

law enforcement activity:
•    justifying and making legal decisions, as well as conducting activities related to the implementation of legal rules in accordance with professional activities;
•    drafting legal documents;
•    adjudicating judicial acts in the course of legal proceedings.

rights protection activity:
•    protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and legal entities;
•    protecting the rights and legitimate interests of the Russian Federation, its territorial subjects and municipal entities;
•    interacting with law enforcement institutions of civil society when implementing professional activities.

organisation and management activity:
•    performing organisation and management functions in accordance with professional activities;
•    organising the work of the Judicial Department at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, its agencies and institutions.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    consider legal cases, strictly complying with the rules of existing legislation, constitutional and sectoral principles of justice;
•    resolve legal cases, strictly complying with the rules of existing legislation, constitutional and sectoral principles of justice;
•    vindicate infringed rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of individuals, society and the state;
•    perform actions in organising legal proceedings;
•    prepare responses to appeals and requests received by the court, including cases pending before it;
•    conduct internal audits;
•    comply with the requirements of the legislation concerning the status of judges and the Judicial Code of Ethics, as well as the procedures, restrictions, and prohibitions related to the performance of public service in the courts and the Judicial Department system;
•    carry out the organisational support of the activities of courts, judicial community bodies, and the bodies and institutions of the Judicial Department.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

A graduate who has successfully completed the educational programme will have the opportunity to carry out official activities in courts and Judicial Department bodies, hold positions of court secretary, court session secretary, consultant, assistant judge, etc. Upon reaching the required professional experience and meeting the requirements set by law, including passing a qualifying exam, a graduate of the educational program will be able to apply for the position of a judge. A graduate of the educational program will be able to carry out official and labour activities in positions of the state civil service in the prosecutor's office, in the units of the Investigative Committee of Russia, law enforcement agencies, the Federal Bailiff Service, the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Federal Tax and Customs Services. Graduates' qualifications allow them to carry out activities in the field of providing legal assistance to the public. Graduates can work as lawyers and notaries, provided they gain professional experience as a lawyer and pass a qualifying exam.
