DESCRIPTION
The aim (mission) of the Master's programme is to train highly qualified international lawyers who will contribute to the legal and institutional support for strengthening Russia’s position in the international arena. Through the development of universal, general professional, and professional competencies, graduates of the programme should acquire the ability to provide analytical support, consultancy services, and conduct academic research in the field of international and European law. This goal is achieved within the framework of the present Master's programme by drawing on the achievements of two academic schools established at the university and within the graduating department — one focusing on post-modernisation processes, the other on comparative federalism. The programme also benefits from extensive experience in comparative legal and political research, the editing of academic yearbooks and international collections of articles, as well as cooperation with leading academic and educational institutions and professional communities.

• conducting expert examination of international and national regulatory acts.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• individually prepare expert legal opinions and examine regulatory (individual) legal acts;
• interpret legal acts, including in cases of legal gaps and collisions;
• justify the legal position on a case in written or oral form, including during adversarial proceedings;
• individually draft legal documents and design regulatory (individual) legal acts;
• provide analytical support for decision making based on the rules of international and European law;
• provide advice on international and European law, as well as legal policies of foreign states;
• conduct research in the field of international and European law, as well as comparative law studies.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
A Master's graduate may pursue professional activities in research institutions and legal departments (divisions) of organisations of various legal forms, including Russian and foreign companies, non-profit organisations, universities, as well as bodies of state and local government.
