DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the programme is to provide students with comprehensive and high-quality training in linguistics. The programme prepares qualified and competitive bachelors in linguistics who possess effective communicative skills, speak fluent English, and are able to implement professional activities in the field of international communication in a developing global cooperation environment, while using modern information, audio, video, and internet technologies. They work in a competitive environment under conditions of modernisation and possess personal qualities necessary for activities connected with international cooperation.
AIMS
teaching activity:
• applying current educational standards in practice, using teaching and methodological materials and modern information resources and technologies.
research activity:
• participating in empirical research in linguistic stylistics and intercultural communication.
counselling activity:
• participating in various communication situations between representatives of different cultures and societies using Russian (Russian as a foreign language);
• implementing intercultural communication using Russian (Russian as a foreign language);
• implementing interlingual and intercultural communication in oral or written forms in formal and informal settings;
• implementing information searching activities to improve professional skills in linguistics and intercultural communication.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• apply the system of linguistic knowledge of the main phonetic, lexical, grammatical, and word-formation phenomena, spelling, punctuation, and patterns in the functional system of a foreign language, as well as its functional types;
• apply in practice knowledge of teaching and psychological fundamentals and methodologies for teaching foreign languages and cultures;
• create and comprehend oral and written texts in a foreign language in formal and informal settings;
• implement interlingual and intercultural interactions in general and professional spheres of communication;
• provide services of linguistic counselling in various field of professional activities;
• contact with representatives of different cultures and societies based on linguistic and extralinguistic knowledge presented in Russian texts;
• implement teaching activities in designing and implementing basic general education programmes in the field of teaching Russian as a foreign language and Russian culture in educational organisations providing pre-school, primary, basic and secondary general education, as well as supplementary education;
• implement research in the professional field supervised by a specialist in linguistics and intercultural communication with higher qualifications.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The graduates of this programme are able to carry out counselling activities in linguistic centres, press offices, enterprises, and translation agencies, training activities in educational organisations and courses of Russian, research activities in Russian as a foreign language, as well as activities connected with texts of various functional styles in Russian.
