Department of Digital Economy
Digital economy is one of the fastest growing industries worldwide. It is an important driver of innovation and development. With the transition to the digital age, its influence has become noticeable in terms of the competitiveness among the states. Economy is rapidly digitising, and it seems that there are no areas left without this worldwide trend. Among the leaders is the financial industry, which has been implementing digitalisation for a long time, namely online banking, risk scoring models, crowd-funding, robotic investment advisors. All this allows improving services at the customer level and spurs business to upgrade skills and competences of employees.
The Department of Digital Economy was created in 2020 by combining the Department of Banking and the Department of Economic Cybernetics. Offering the synergy of two areas – education and business – the department is designed to provide high-quality and relevant educational programmes. The department sees its mission in providing students with knowledge of modern information and communication technologies for business and effective management and at enhancing the professional capacities for digital transformation of economy.
Learning and teaching focus on the following areas: business analytics, electronic business, Internet marketing, digital business, IT project management, information and analytical support for management, optimisation and modelling of business processes, building information systems, integration of business intelligence platforms and business performance management. The partners of the department (Sber Bank, VTB-24, Alfa Bank, Russian Agricultural Bank) participate in learning, teaching and training, as well as employ its graduates.
The research results of students and teaching staff are reported at the international conferences held in Russia, Singapore, the UK, Germany, Bulgaria, Norway, Canada, Switzerland, etc. Over 420 scientific papers and inventions have been published to date. The papers are available in the leading Russian and foreign scientific journals (Autometry, Artificial Intelligence, Innovations, Pattern Recognition, etc.).
