DESCRIPTION
AIMS
training activity:
• implementing educational programmes of basic, secondary general, secondary vocational, and supplementary education.
translation activity:
• providing inter-language and intercultural communication in spoken or written forms in official and unofficial communication fields.
research activity:
• conducting research in the field of linguistics and intercultural communication, the theory and methods of teaching foreign languages and cultures.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
• apply the system of linguistic knowledge of the main phonetic, lexical, grammatical, and word-building phenomena, orthography, punctuation, laws of the functioning of the language under study and its functional forms;
• apply in practical activities the knowledge of pedagogical basics and the methodology of teaching foreign languages and cultures;
• produce and understand spoken and written texts in the language under study in regard to functional styles in official and unofficial communication fields;
• conduct inter-language and intercultural interaction in spoken and written forms both in general and professional communication fields;
• carry out training activities in the design and implementation of basic programmes of general education in foreign languages and cultures in educational institutions of basic, secondary general, secondary vocational, and supplementary education;
• implement a non-specialised translation from a foreign language into Russian and vice versa;
• implement a consecutive interpretation and a professionally oriented translation, including with the use of special tools, from a foreign language into Russian and vice versa;
• participate in solving research tasks in the field of professional activities.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The graduate is able to work as a teacher of English and German / French (depending on the chosen language as a second foreign language) in secondary schools or in institutions of supplementary education; as an interpreter and/or translator in Russian and foreign companies whose activities involve inter-language and intercultural communication; as a junior researcher in research institutions.
