DESCRIPTION

The programme provides Master's degree students with deep theoretical knowledge in the field of computational and applied mathematics, informatics. In the course of studies master degree students acquire fundamental knowledge in the field of computational mathematics, applied mathematics, informatics, as well as their application in creating and researching mathematical models of economics, ecology, engineering and physics. Practical and research activity of master degree students is focused on applying methods of applied mathematics and informatics to creating and researching mathematical models of economics, ecology, engineering and physics. The programme constitutes to deep learning of theory and practice of teaching mathematics, due to which master degree students acquire fundamental training for pedagogical activity.

Forms of in-class activity: lectures, laboratory classes, seminars, review sessions, and students’ individual work.

AIMS

research activity:
•    creating mathematical models and researching them using analytical and numeric methods;
•    developing algorithms and software for research in mathematical models in economics, engineering, and physics;
•    developing and applying up-to-date highly efficient technologies;

project activity:
•    applying most advanced mathematical and informational technologies and programme packages for solving applied tasks in the field of economics, ecology, engineering and physics;
•    researching and developing systems of digital image processing, computer graphics tools;
organizational and management activity:
•    managing projects, planning production processes and resources;
•    acquiring professional ethics code;
pedagogical activity:
•    teaching academic subjects using modern methodology;
•     conducting practical and laboratory classes and seminars in general mathematical subjects, delivering lectures in special sections of mathematics;
•    teaching optional subjects in the field of applied mathematics and informatics in general educational institutions;
•    developing learning and teaching materials on applied mathematics and informatics for secondary and higher educational institutions;
consulting activity:
•    making analytical reviews on mathematical models in the field of economics and engineering.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:

The graduates can be employed in all the spheres of scientific and manufacturing activity connected with using methods of applied mathematics and informatics: in research institutions, manufacturing facilities, educational institutions of different levels, in financial sphere. The graduates can continue studies and take a post-graduate course.
