DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the programme is to train a teacher-psychologist capable of carrying out professional activities in the field of education and science, ready to develop a system of psychological assistance to subjects of the educational process; capable of creating conditions for comprehensive training, upbringing and socialization of students; ready for cultural, educational, organizational and managerial activities in educational organizations of general, professional and additional education and able to participate in the creation of a psychologically comfortable and safe educational environment.

AIMS

support activity:
•    forming and implementing plans for developmental work with students, taking into account their individual psychological characteristics;
•    developing programmes for the development of universal training activities, programmes of mentoring and socialising students and pupils, as well as remedial programmes;
•    developing individual training plans for students taking into account their psychological characteristics;
•    developing and implementing individual and meta-subject components of the outcomes of mastering a basic programme of general education;
•    organising and conducting events in the field of career guidance for students, including those with special educational needs.

cultural and educational activity:
•    implementing psychological education aimed at shaping a psychological culture of the subjects of the educational process, as well as at preventing negative manifestations of the social environment;
•    counselling subjects of the educational process on psychological issues in education and the development of various student contingents, including those with special educational needs;
•    counselling participants of the educational process, as well as students’ parents and legal representatives on career guidance and students’ professional self-determination;
•    counselling participants of the educational process during the implementation of preventive, remedial and developmental work with students.

organisation and management activity:
•    conducting organisational and methodological activities aimed at the professional development of subjects of the educational process;
•    organising and ensuring psychological support for the processes of educating, developing, training, and socialising children and adolescents;
•    organising work with other specialists in the development of methods and technologies for providing targeted psychological and pedagogical assistance to students;
•    developing strategies and organising work in an educational institution aimed at preventing psychological disadvantage of students.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    conduct and optimise professional activities in accordance with professional ethics and regulatory legal acts in the field of education;
•    design basic and supplementary educational programmes and elaborate scientific and methodological support for their implementation;
•    organise joint and individual learning and educational activities for students, including those with special educational needs;
•    create and implement conditions and principles for the implementation of moral education for students based on basic national values;
•    develop programmes for monitoring students’ educational results, as well as to develop and implement programmes for overcoming difficulties in education;
•    design and apply efficient psychological, pedagogical and inclusive technologies for professional activities necessary to individualise training, education and development of students, including those with special educational needs;
•    plan and organise interactions between participants in the educational process;
•    design training activities based on special scientific knowledge and research results.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

A graduate can work as a psychologist, or a teacher-psychologist in educational organisations of general, vocational, and supplementary education.
