DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the programme is to prepare highly qualified pulmonologists who possess a system of universal, general professional and professional competencies and are able and ready to perform independent professional activities. The training course covers the entire volume of theoretical and practical skills, as well as the study of the basics of aetiology and pathogenesis of diseases of respiratory organs, taking into account modern achievements in medicine, studying methods for differential diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation.
AIMS
diagnostic activity:
• diagnosing diseases and (or) conditions of the bronchopulmonary system based on propaedeutic, laboratory, instrumental, and other research methods.
treatment activity:
• providing specialised medical care for patients with diseases and (or) conditions of the bronchopulmonary system, monitoring its effectiveness and safety.
preventive activity:
• conducting and monitoring measures for preventing diseases of the bronchopulmonary system, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and providing medical education for the population.
rehabilitation activity:
• conducting medical examinations of patients with diseases of the bronchopulmonary system, selecting a method and conducting rehabilitation measures, as well as monitoring their effectiveness.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• conduct clinical diagnosis of bronchopulmonary diseases;
• prescript and conduct treatment of patients with bronchopulmonary diseases, taking into account their diagnosis, age, and the clinical picture in accordance with the existing procedures for the provision of medical care, clinical recommendations and medical care standards, as well as monitor the effectiveness and safety of the treatment;
• conduct medical examinations of patients with diseases of the bronchopulmonary system;
• conduct and monitor the effectiveness of measures for preventing bronchopulmonary diseases and promoting a healthy lifestyle, provide medical education for the population;
• conduct training activities, such as training junior medical staff;
• analyse medical and statistical information, keep medical documentation and organise work activities of subordinate medical staff;
• provide emergency medical aid for conditions requiring immediate medical intervention;
• apply information and communications technology in professional activities and observe the requirements of information security;
• apply basic principles of organisation and management in the field of healthcare and assessment of the quality of medical aid using main medical and statistical indicators.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates are able to work as pulmonologists in various medical organisations and implement professional activities in the field of pulmonology.
