DESCRIPTION

The programme provides in-depth professional training for personnel in the field of social education who possess modern knowledge and technologies necessary to work in social sector bodies and institutions. This programme allows us to solve the tasks of improving the quality of training highly qualified personnel for government bodies and institutions providing social services to the population. The realisation of this goal also ensures the formation of universal, general professional competencies and professional competencies that meet the requirements of employers established as a result of labour market analysis.

AIMS

research activity:
•    organising and conducting applied and/or fundamental research in the field of social work;
•    elaborating proposals on the use of information technology in order to improve the efficiency of social security for the population;
•    processing social, demographic, economic and other data, involving a wide range of sources based on the use of modern information technology, computers, and communication means;
•    writing reviews, annotations, reports, analytical notes, professional publications, and information materials on research results in the field of social security for the population;
•    presenting research results with reports on research topics.

training activity:
•    conducting classes on bachelor’s programmes and supplementary vocational programmes in the field of social work, organising students’ individual work on bachelor’s programmes and supplementary vocational programmes, managing and evaluating students’ mastery of training courses, disciplines (modules), bachelor’s programmes and supplementary vocational programmes;
•    applying pedagogically substantiated forms, methods, and techniques for organising students’ activities’.

socio-technological activity:
•    defining planned aims, objectives, and resources necessary for the implementation of social work and social security;
•    establishing business relations and organising cooperation with various state, public and other organisations in order to improve the quality and efficiency of social services, including through charitable assistance aimed at supporting citizens in difficult life situations.

organisational and management activity:
•    defining workload for the employees of a department (group of specialists), assigning tasks to them, coordinating their activities on task completion, and motivating them;
•    managing the fulfilment of planned goals by employees, analysing the work of a department (group of specialists), defining stimulating factors for professional activities, developing and implementing a system for stimulating efficient professional activities.

project activity:

•    elaborating proposals within the development of social programmes and projects aimed at improving the efficiency of social services for individuals, groups and the public;
•    elaborating social projects (programmes) aimed at improving the efficiency of social services for the population.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    organise and conduct applied and fundamental research in the field of social work;
•    counsel the population and implement social work technologies;
•    organising interagency cooperation and applying the resources of social infrastructure, businesses and public organisations to ensure social security for the population;
•    plan and organise the work of employees and departments in organisations that provide social security for the population;
•    conduct operational control and implementing measures to improve the efficiency of employees’ activities and departments in organisations that provide social security for the population;
•    conduct social forecasting, design and modelling of processes aimed at ensuring social well-being and social security for the population;
•    teach educational courses, disciplines (modules) and conduct separate types of classes in bachelor’s programmes and (or) supplementary vocational programmes in the field of social work;
•    design educational and methodological support for the implementation of educational courses, disciplines (modules) or separate types of classes in bachelor’s programmes and (or) supplementary vocational programmes.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of this programme are able to work in the fields of education and science, including secondary and higher education, vocational education. They may also find employment in social services and within the management of social security systems.
