DESCRIPTION

The social significance of the programme is determined by the need of society to expand the range of social services to the population and improve their quality, as well as the need to develop a system of social assistance and support for socially vulnerable segments of the population. The realisation of these objective needs is impossible without purposeful work on the training of highly qualified personnel for government bodies and institutions providing social services, social security, social protection and social support to those in need. Based on this, the main goal of this programme is to ensure the level of bachelor's education that meets modern social needs. Achieving this goal involves the formation and development of students' personal qualities and abilities such as awareness of their civic position in solving social problems; understanding personal responsibility for the quality of professional knowledge, skills; willingness to improve their professional characteristics; the ability to optimally use their communicative potential to solve professional problems; the ability to think big, correlating the content of specific practical situations and the general social context; a humanistic worldview, a stable system of moral and civic values, the formation of students' sense of patriotism and citizenship.

AIMS

research activity:
•    collecting and processing empirical information on diagnostic parameters in the field of social work, summarising information, elaborating practical recommendations for improving the level of social well-being of the population.

socio-technological activity:
•    diagnosing a difficult life situation of a citizen, identifying its causes and character, identifying and assessing the individual needs of a citizen for various types and forms of social services;
•    planning activities for achieving the aims of providing social services and social support for a citizen, defining the required amount of services for the implementation of an individual programme of providing social services and social support;
•    keeping the necessary documentation in accordance with modern requirements for reporting, the periodicity and quality of documents;
•    organising social welfare, socio-medical, socio-psychological, socio-pedagogical, socio-legal, socio-economic, and social rehabilitation services;
•    preparing legal acts envisaged by federal and regional legal acts related to ensuring and defending children’s rights;
•    ensuring complex interaction with other specialists, institutions, organisations, and communities providing assistance in overcoming difficult life situations;
•    organising interagency cooperation in order to realise citizens’ needs for various types of social services;
•    identifying causes of social disadvantage and signs of neglect of child’s needs by parents;
•    diagnosing deviations in the functioning of various types of families with children;
•    elaborating recommendations for supporting various types of families;
•    drawing up acts of the inspection of life conditions of a child and a person (persons) claiming to bring up the child, as well as conclusions based on them when considering disputes related to the upbringing of children and the exercise of parental rights by the court.

organisation and management activity:
•    assessing the quality of work using qualimetric methods;
•    establishing cooperation within a group of specialists, building a team of specialists in complex rehabilitation;
•    applying modern technologies when working with information, databases, and other information systems.

project activity:
•    planning activities for achieving the aims of providing social services and social support for a citizen, defining the required amount of services for the implementation of an individual programme of providing social services and social support.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    assess the circumstances that worsen or may worsen the living conditions of citizens, to determine the individual needs of citizens in the provision of social services, social support, social support measures and state social assistance;
•    plan activities for the provision of social services, social support, social support measures and state social assistance, as well as the prevention of circumstances that cause the need for social services;

•    ensure the safeguarding and protection of the rights and legitimate interests of minors and assist in aiding families with children in difficult life situations;
•    carry out forecasting, designing and modelling of processes aimed at improving the living conditions of businesses and citizens;
•    organise and conduct applied research in the field of social work;
•    conduct the quality control of social service provision;
•    prepare informational materials for mass media, social networks, and public speaking to draw public attention to current social issues, informing the population about the directions of implementation and prospects for the development of social work.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of this programme are well-prepared for careers in social work and family support services. They can work as family specialists, child protection officers, or social service providers, focusing on identifying family dysfunction, assessing risks, ensuring child welfare, and facilitating social rehabilitation. Additional roles may include organizing and implementing individualized social service programmes and enhancing the efficiency of social support systems.
