DESCRIPTION

 
The purpose of the programme is the formation of universal, general professional competencies and professional competencies among students, the development of the ability and willingness to search for and receive new information necessary to solve research problems in the field of information technology, the integration of knowledge in relation to their field of activity, self-learning and continuous professional self-improvement of skills in working with automation systems of engineering activities.
 

AIMS

 
production and technological activity:
•    managing technical support for a professional activity object during its operation, administering information and automated systems, integrating them;
•    managing the development of professional activity objects, managing information resources and services of an organisation;
•    managing technical documentation;
•    managing analytical works;

design activity:

•    developing design strategies, defining design aims, efficiency criteria, applicability limitation;
•    collecting and analysing initial data for design;
•    formulating requirements for the design of professional activity objects, technical and economic justification for design solutions, and technical specifications for development;
•    designing software and hardware in accordance with technical specifications using design automation tools;
•    programming applications using modern software development tools; 
•    documenting software and hardware complex components and systems at each stage of their life cycle.

research activity:

•    collecting and analysing scientific and technical information of Russian and foreign experience on research topics;
•    developing and studying theoretical and experimental models for professional activity objects, developing methods for solving unconventional tasks and new methods for solving conventional ones;
•    analysing experiment results, selecting optimal solutions, preparing and writing reviews, reports, and scientific publications.
 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    conduct management activities in creating (modifying) information resources and automated systems;
•    manage database development in automated systems;
•    design automated systems (subsystems) and complex user interfaces;
•    conduct research related to modelling and developing automated support systems;
•    administer a network subsystem and system software of an information and communication system.

 

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

 

Graduates who have completed the program are able to carry out professional activities in IT companies, in research institutions related to the development and application of information technology, in IT departments of other institutions and organisations.
