DESCRIPTION
The Master’s degree programme provides students with profound theoretical knowledge and practical skills required in criminal law and related fields. Graduates master legal norms and regulations upholding law and public order, ensuring security of individuals, society and state, combating crimes and other offences, executing punishment, and promoting legal education. It appeals not only to Bachelors and Specialists in Law, but also to serving officials in law enforcement, state and local authorities willing to upgrade their professional qualification.
Forms of in-class activity: lectures, practical classes, review sessions, and individual work.
AIMS

• preparing and issuing law, statutes and regulations within criminal law;

• justifying and making decisions within the scope of official duties;
• performing actions associated with the implementation of legal norms;

• carrying out legal examinations and reviews of legal norms, statutes and regulations in criminal law;

• managing and operating teams working in various legal institutions;

LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• develop and explore laws, regulations, standards and other legal documents;
• comply with laws, regulations, standards and other legal documents, implement legal norms in professional activity;
• fulfil professional duties on ensuring law and order, security of individuals, society and state, on protecting life and health of citizens, and on maintaining public order;
• detect, record and investigate crimes and offenses;
• prevent crimes and offenses within criminal law, identify and eliminate reasons and conditions causing them;
• identify, evaluate and prevent corruption;
• interpret, introduce and enforce laws, statutes and regulations;
• review the drafts of laws, statutes and regulations;
• issue legal opinions and recommendation within specific branches of law
• make decisions and perform legal actions in strict accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation;
• analyse, adopt and introduce innovations in the field of law;
• efficiently conduct research in criminal law;
• deliver legal disciplines based on up-to-date theoretical knowledge and using modern methodological approaches;
• supervise independent work of students, while they are exploring criminal law;
• foster legal awareness among the population.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Programme graduates are employed in law enforcement agencies, lawyer and notary offices. They also can be engaged in private investigator practice. Graduates are enough trained to deliver legal and related disciplines. Some graduates may opt for completing post-graduate programme.
