ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The prospective students should possess nationally recognised higher education documents. Their proficiency in foreign languages (English and German) should be at least B2.
DESCRIPTION
AIMS
research activity:
• conduct research on the language systems and functioning patterns of folklore and literature in the synchronic and diachronic aspects within oral, written and virtual communication;
• analyse, review, abstract, present and promote findings of individual research;
• submit and edit scientific publications;
• join research teams carrying out philology research.
applied activity:
• create, modify, abstract, systemise and transform (e.g., style, genre, purpose) of all types of official business, social and publicistic texts (including business, advertising, public relations documents);
• undertake work related to lexicographic description of the language and codification of the language norm);
• analyse data and produce information and analytical materials;
• write and deliver public speeches, as well as establish interpersonal and mass (including intercultural and interethnic) communication using effective speaking and writing skills;
• correlate, analyse and interpret intercultural phenomena in intercultural communication;
• support international forums and negotiations, accompany delegations from foreign countries.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the programme the student should be able to:
• apply in professional activity, including teaching, communication strategies and tactics, rhetorical and stylistic devices adopted in different areas of communication;
• use in professional activity, including teaching, up-to-date scientific knowledge in the field of linguistics, understand trends of its development, apply methods and techniques for linguistic research;
• master a wide range of methods and techniques for linguistic study of various types of texts;
• perform multidimensional analysis of oral and written communication in foreign languages, draw up, present and apply the results of the analysis for solving professional and research tasks in intercultural research;
• identify, analyse and compare intercultural phenomena and processes in a diachronic perspective, understand cultural differences;
• use a foreign language and foreign culture as a communication instrument in the context of dialogue of cultures and civilisations, transmit cultural values in professional intercultural activity;
• analyse, critically evaluate and interpret discourse of mass media in foreign languages, apply specific features of discursive activity in mass communication in the intercultural environment to promote values of the dialogue of cultures;
• effectively interact within foreign language media space, create new elements of media culture in modern multicultural society.
