In addition to maxillo-facial surgery, 22 teaching staff members of the department provide training in otorhinolaryngology and ophthalmology. The classes on general surgery, surgical diseases, operative surgery, maxillo-facial surgery and other topics are conducted for the students of the Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of General Medicine. The department also teaches medical residents in maxillo-facial surgery, otorhinolaryngology and ophthalmology.

In 2017, the department initiated the research team “Maxillo-Facial Surgery” engaging the students, medical residents and teaching staff. The most promising areas of their activity include articulatory diseases of the temporomandibular joint, surgical methods for treating diseases of the prodont, development of biocomposite materials, study of tissue microcirculation, fractures of the maxillary bones in children, ophthalmic manifestations of diseases of the endocrine system and dental implantology.

The intense involvement in various conferences, competitions and workshops, as well as the professional growth of the students and teaching staff determined the dynamic development of the team and the department. All participants of the teaching and learning process are given the opportunity to share their experience, consolidate practical skills, undertake research, apply for patents and produce publications for medical journals.
