Department of Dentistry

The Department of Dentistry was established in 2008. Despite having a brief history, the department actively participates in the research projects, increases its academic potential, trains highly-demanded specialists and introduces modern technologies in healthcare.

The teaching and learning process covers the Specialist’s degree programme in the area of dentistry, as well as clinical residency and post-graduate programmes. In addition, the department offers the life-long learning programmes in specialised areas of dentistry.

Research at the department is becoming increasingly popular, as the students and teaching staff demonstrate interest and independence in launching various projects, attending scientific events (conferences and forums) and participating in medical contests. The best ideas are published and introduced into practice. In recent years, 7 monographs, 14 teaching and learning guides and 110 scientific papers have been released.

In 2014 the department initiated the activity of the Student Dental Scientific Society. The students are given the opportunity to share accumulated knowledge, consolidate practical skills and engage in research under the guidance of the experienced teaching staff. The most promising areas of research include general dentistry, surgical dentistry, orthopaedic dentistry, child dentistry, orthodontics and radiology. The department also operates the Student Scientific Dentistry Centre, which was founded to increase the quality of teaching and learning by means of communicating achievements of medical science and medical practice to the students and trainees.
