"Medical Institute is Biomedical Cluster of the Penza Region": PSU holds the international conference "Current Issues of Medical Science and Education"
On December 5, the 10th International Scientific and Practical Conference "Current Issues of Medical Science and Education", dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Medical Institute of PSU, began its work at Penza State University. Teachers, postgraduates, residents, students of medical universities of Russia and foreign colleagues from the Republic of Belarus and India presented their vision of current problems and issues of practical medicine.
There were 14 sections for conference participants. They covered issues of clinical and experimental morphology, pediatrics, surgical diseases, current problems of cardiology in the clinic of internal diseases, practical and preventive medicine. Researchers talked about biotechnical and medical systems and complexes.
Sergei Vasin, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at PSU, opened the event. He conveyed greetings to the participants from Rector of Penza State University Aleksandr Guliakov. The speaker noted that over 25 years, the Medical Institute had achieved great results. Teachers and students develop all aspects of educational and scientific activities in the field of medicine, from the theoretical part to biomedical systems.
"Medical education, in my opinion, is the most difficult area of training. I would like to wish all students of medical universities to approach the learning process thoughtfully and responsibly. The health and lives of people in the future will depend on you," Sergei Vasin addressed the students.
He added that PSU has created all the conditions for training and subsequent development of medical students into highly qualified professionals. The Vice-Rector also mentioned that the university is developing partnerships in the field of education and science with foreign universities. One of such partners for many years has been Parul University in India. Joint research and projects are conducted in technical and medical sciences.
The participants were welcomed by representatives of Parul University: Prof. Dr. Anand Joshi, Director of Research, Professor of the Department of Mechatronics, and Dr. Geetika Madan Patel, Vice President for Quality, Research and Healthcare, Member of the University Board.
Director of Research Prof. Dr. Anand Joshi congratulated the representatives of the Medical Institute on the anniversary. He emphasized that the Institute has been a center of advanced academic experience and scientific research for 25 years and makes an invaluable contribution to global healthcare and education.
“This event is of particular importance to us as Parul University is closely associated with Penza State University. I am pleased to announce that our collaboration has resulted in the submission of three joint research projects under the Department of Science and Technology of India and the Russian Science Foundation competition. This reflects our mutual commitment to advancing medical science through effective research and innovation,” shared Anand Joshi.
He added that the partnership between Parul University and PSU is an example of competent work that solves pressing global issues in the fields of health and education.
“At our university, we strongly believe in the transformative power of such collaborative initiatives that bring together diverse perspectives to create innovative solutions for the future of healthcare. Let us continue to advance our shared vision of expanding the boundaries of knowledge and innovative solutions for the benefit of humanity,” the speaker expressed hope for continued collaboration.
Dr. Geetika Madan Patel, Vice President for Quality, Research and Healthcare, Member of the Board of Directors of Parul University, joined in congratulating the institute on its 25th anniversary.
"The topic of the conference is relevant and will generate fascinating discussions. The cooperation between Parul University and PSU will not only benefit the students and staff of our institution, but will also enrich the academic and research ecosystem of the Indian university," she expressed her confidence.
The speaker noted that every year the Indian university is pleased to accept students from the PSU Medical Institute for comprehensive training programmes to acquire the necessary skills and strives to provide students with ample opportunities for practical training.
Elena Asiryan, Vice-Rector for Research at Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University (Republic of Belarus), addressed the audience. She wished everyone fruitful work, new ideas and scientific achievements.
Aleksandr Mitroshin, Director of the Medical Institute of Penza State University, drew attention to the fact that currently more than 4.5 thousand students and residents are studying at the Medical Institute:
"This is a large international diaspora, which is represented by students from 50 countries. The Medical Institute is a biomedical cluster created on Penza land. Today it has a good material and technical base, which allows us to look confidently into the future."
The Director of the PSU Medical Institute hopes that fruitful cooperation with friendly countries in the educational and scientific spheres will continue to develop. He also expressed hope that he will soon be able to meet colleagues from India and Belarus in person at similar scientific events in Penza.
"I am confident that good and friendly relations will allow us to develop both scientific areas and friendly relations with our colleagues. Our fruitful cooperation will be the key to friendship and prosperity of our countries," concluded Aleksandr Mitroshin.
The conference then continued its work in sections. Scientists and researchers from Penza, Moscow, Donetsk, St. Petersburg, Omsk, Orel, Krasnodar, Voronezh, Ulyanovsk and other cities of Russia, as well as from Belarus, presented their reports.
The conference was held at several venues: Penza State University, N.N. Burdenko Regional Clinical Hospital, N.F. Filatov Penza Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, PSU Clinical Medical Center, RZD-Medicine Clinical Hospital.
On the second day, the following sections started their work: "Current Issues of Cardiology in the Clinic of Internal Medicine", "Topical Issues of Pediatrics", "Microbiology, Epidemiology, Infectious Diseases and Dermatovenereology".
The conference also included a competition for the best report. The selected reports will be published in the journal "University Proceedings. Volga Region. Medical Sciences", which is included in the list of publications of the Higher Attestation Commission.
