This is our common Victory!
A round table dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held at Penza State University. The event was organized by the Institute of International Cooperation of PSU.
The round table paid special attention to the contribution of the university staff to the Victory. More than 400 PSU teachers and staff defended the Motherland on the war fronts. In 2015, the university opened a memorial "They Fought for the Motherland!", immortalizing the names of 420 heroes.
The international format of the event emphasized the universal significance of the Victory. Representatives of different generations, from schoolchildren to honorary experts, took part in the round table. Executive Member of the Board of Directors of the METACOGNIS Institute (Novi Sad, Serbia) Jovica Petrović spoke online, emphasizing the importance of preserving the memory of the feats of our ancestors.
Welcoming the participants, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Gleb Sintsov focused on the importance of Victory Day for every family in Russia.
The event featured 17 speakers who told personal stories of war heroes. Students from Tajikistan and China presented a special report "Scorched by War: PSU During the War Years." The participants also recited patriotic poems, sharing their feelings and experiences.
It is symbolic that the round table was held in Russian, the language that united nations in the fight against fascism and is today the native language of more than a quarter of a billion people around the world. Hundreds of international students from dozens of countries study this language at PSU.
After the round table, the international students and guests of the event visited the exhibition "No Statute of Limitations", where they were given a tour on the topic of preserving the historical memory of the tragedy of the civilian population of the USSR - victims of war crimes by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War.
