PSU international students held an annual memorial event “Thank you for the peaceful sky!”
On May 9, the day of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the International Students Association of the Penza Region held an annual memorial event “Thank you for the peaceful sky!”
PSU international students - representatives of such countries as Morocco, Sudan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Yemen, Turkmenistan, laid flowers at the Eternal Flame at the Monument of Military and Labor Glory on Victory Square, paying tribute to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
This event is held with the aim of spiritual and moral personality development of international students, and plays an important role in strengthening ties between cultures, forming respect for history and creating a single community, as well as an atmosphere of unity and solidarity, despite cultural and linguistic differences.
Sergey Ivanchin, Head of the International Education Office, addressed the participants of the event:
“I would like to thank the international students for sharing these moments of joy, sadness and grief with us. This day holds a special place in the hearts of millions of people, and for us, as an international community, it is also an opportunity to understand and honor the history and culture of our host country. This is the day when we remember the courage and dedication of those who fought for peace and freedom. We honor the memory of those who gave their lives for future generations, and we express gratitude to all the veterans who survived those terrible times. This event has been held for over 10 years and always makes international students sincerely want to participate, this is especially valuable!”
Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, noted that the event plays a vital role in the process of spiritual education of the individual:
"The participation of international students in events dedicated to May 9 is an opportunity not only to honor the memory of those who fought, but also to strengthen our mutual understanding and solidarity. We all live in a world that requires us to understand and respect each other, and such events help us build bridges between cultures!"
