PSU international students got acquainted with the peculiarities of national cuisines within the gastronomic festival "Tastes of the World"
The gastronomic festival "Tastes of the World" was held at the site of the international space of the International Friendship Club of the Penza Region, within the framework of which the participants – PSU international students - presented their national dishes.
The event was attended by Maqbol Adel Ali Omar, Chairman of the International Students Association of the Penza Region, as well as Nariman Kozin, chief specialist-expert of the Youth and Public Projects Department of the Department of Youth Policy of the Government of the Penza Region.
The festival promotes cultural exchange between students and local residents, helps to better understand the peculiarities of life and customs of different nations. In addition to tasting delicious treats, the participants learned a lot about national traditions and customs related to food and drinks.
"Cuisine is not just food. It is part of the culture, traditions and even the history of entire nations. Behind each dish there are interesting stories, family recipes and national characteristics," noted Nariman Kozin.
Guests were able to get acquainted with the culture of different nations of the world and try traditional dishes of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Zambia, Morocco, Sudan and India.
"We are holding such an event for the first time, on one site you can see the culture of several continents at once, get acquainted with the history of dishes, learn the peculiarities of the traditions of serving each. This is a unique opportunity!", shared Ekaterina Syagaylo, leader of the International Friendship Club of the Penza Region, Head of the Student Affairs Department, International Education Office, Institute of International Cooperation, PSU.
