Penza State University is one of the best universities in the country in the competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia for the support of Student Scientific Societies.

Let us recall that a total of 286 applications from 76 subjects of the Russian Federation were submitted to the competition. The PSU project "SSS-marathon: youth and science - together we create the future!" entered the top 10 of the 3rd category of the competition and received a grant for implementation in the amount of 5 million roubles.

From May to December last year, 15 events in the scientific-communicative, project-technological, volunteer-popularization and international areas were held within the framework of the grant.

Penza State University has hosted international scientific and practical conference schools, scientific and technical conferences, and scientific and practical conferences, including for international students. Many of them have been held for many years and bring together hundreds of people interested in science and seeking to shed light on unresolved problems and issues in various fields of knowledge. For example, the International Scientific and Technical Conference "Methods, Tools, and Technologies for Obtaining and Processing Measurement Information" ("Shlyandin Readings") has been held at the university for over 15 years. And the International Youth Legal Forum "Say No to Extremism" has been providing a platform for discussing extremism issues since 2012. This year, it brought together over 250 students from 23 countries. The participants discussed issues that remain relevant every year. Among them: issues of counteracting extremism and terrorism in modern realities, problems of religious extremism, detection and prevention of youth commitment to radical movements, and others. The international scientific and practical school-conference "Current Problems of Science and Education" included 70 sections. More than a thousand students, teachers, and scientists took part in it. They discussed issues and problems of medicine, economics, law, psychology, history, applied mathematics and computer science, metrology, and others. The student scientific and business game "UN Models" gave the opportunity for student youth to try on the role of delegates - representatives of different countries. About a hundred students of the Institute of Law demonstrated their oratory skills and demonstrated deep knowledge of the political situation of the selected country for several days. This format allowed them to get acquainted with the positions of a number of countries that the participants stated in their speeches. Each of the delegates delved into research activities through comparative law.

The hackathon of unmanned aerial vehicle operators “Free Flight”, the series of meetings “Scientific Dynasty – Together into the Future”, the competition “Our Ideas – for a New Time” also found a response among students, young scientists and teachers.

More than 1800 people were involved in scientific and research activities within the framework of the grant implementation. 60 members of the SSS were trained in additional education programs at universities in Russia and Belarus. In addition, students passionate about science repeatedly became participants in various scientific research events of the Student Scientific Society of Penza State University. One-time incentive scholarships were received by 150 students who are members of the SSS and have achievements in scientific research activities.

The event organizers include: PSU Student Scientific Society, Institute of International Cooperation, Polytechnic Institute, the Institute of Teacher Education, the Institute of Law, Military Training Center named after Hero of the Soviet Union Colonel V. F. Shishkov, Student Scientific and Production Business Incubator of the Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Research, Information Policy and Public Relations Department, and Scientific and Innovation Department.

It should be noted that Penza State University annually wins grants to support scientific ideas and projects. In 2022 and 2023, PSU was the winner of the competition in the 1st and 2nd categories of the competition from the Ministry of Education and Science (grants of 1 million roubles and 3 million roubles, respectively).
