Becoming a Flensburg Student
How can an ordinary Russian student become a German student? Easy. All you have to do is to ask two girls – Veronika Trofimova and Darya Arakcheeva – who has just come back from studying for a full semester at a German university.
Both Veronika and Darya study translation at the Faculty of History, Languages and Culture at Penza State University. In spring 2013 they won the contest and became exchange students for a summer semester in Flensburg University. The study began on 20th of March and finished on 12th of July, 2013.
The girls joined the groups of international students and had classes at the university. The lectures were delivered in German, yet some classes were only conducted in English.
The University of Flensburg, though founded in 1994, has managed to establish international links with various universities of the world. Its relations with Penza State University now encompass joined seminars and workshops, professional training visits, students exchange visits.
The University accepts exchange students from the USA, Spain, Mexico, Chile, Hungary, France, Brazil, Thailand and many other countries. It offers training in education and other fields of social sciences.
It’s worth noticing that studying at a foreign university gives an excellent opportunity to try another educational system and evaluate its benefits.
