PSU representatives completed an internship in Great Britain
Alexandra Zyuzina, a post-graduate student of PSU, and Ivan Rykov, a master degree student, had an internship in Delcam training centre in Great Britain (Birmingham) for three weeks (July-August, 2015).
They won the opportunity to complete the internship as a first prize in the international contest of Delcam company. Their contest works were devoted to designing medical prostheses taking into consideration the terms of Penza manufacturers at “Rameev” tech park.
During the internship the students studied the following programmes: Сrispin (Engineer, ShoeMaker, ShoeStyle, LastMaker), ArtCAM Pro, Jewelsmith, PowerSHAPE, PowerMill Robot. These software programmes are used by Penza enterprises and research centres for design and manufacture of locomotor system prostheses, complex shape products on the equipment with numeric programme control and in jewelry production.
The new technologies acquired by the students will allow the university to develop new trends: to organize a centre for robotized processing technologies which is planned to be opened together with the Germany company KUKA, to design and make orthopedic footwear together with the orthopaedists of the Medical Institute (PSU).
The internship became possible due to the long-term cooperation between PSU and the British company Delcam and due to the active work of the Centre of computer-aided design “Delcam-Penza” at the Department of Machine Building Technologies (Politechnic Institute). The internship was fully financed by Delcam company.
The students were especially impressed by the software Сrispin for shoes drafting and design (when you can make up and create any shoe shape), Jewelsmith (for creating jewelry) and PowerMill Robot (for controlling robots for mechanic processing at the manufacture).
The students also visited significant places of England: London, Liverpool, Oxford, Chester, Stratford, Hereford.
