PSU Publishing House brought out the monograph “Representation of Europe’s Past in Online Media” / “Die Darstellung der Konfliktreichen Vergangenheit Europas in Online-Medien” by H. Wagner and Ye. Aleshina, edited by I. Shaplo, T. Razuvaeva.
The monograph was published within the project “Discourses and Representation of Europe’s Past In Online Media” (DIREPA) implemented by PSU Department of Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages together with the European University of Flensburg (Germany) and University of Sergy-Pontoise (France). The project is supported by the German-French Institute and the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
The monograph comprises the articles by foreign researchers (Hedwig Wagner, Luciana Radu-Gahi, Anna Grutza, Anna Yusupovich-Ginalskaya, Yoanna Shilko-Kvas, Katarzyna Gilevich-Korab) in English, German, and French, as well as lecturers of V.G. Belinsky Institute of Teacher Education who are engaged in research of media discourse (Ye.Yu. Aleshina, Ye.K. Reva, T.A. Razuvaeva). The papers of foreign experts were translated into Russian for these publications to be available to Russian readers. The articles analyse the role of online media in disseminating memory discourse and past discourse in European society and identify contradictions in the representation of Europe’s past in European public consciousness.
The monograph presents the results of research conducted by the LEMEL international consortium within DIREPA project.
On behalf of PSU the project is managed by Ye.Yu. Aleshina, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages, and is coordinated by T.A. Razuvaeva, Head of the Language and Examination Centre and coordinator of cooperation between Penza State University and Flensburg institutions.
