On May 9, the International Students Association of the Penza Region organized a commemoration event «Thank you, veterans!» In order to promote spiritual and moral development of personality of international students.

Traditionally, the students lay flowers at the Eternal Flame at the Monument of Military and Labor Glory on Victory Square, paying tribute to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. In 2021, representatives of different nationalities and universities of the region took part in the event: Adel Ali Omar Maqbol, Chairman of the International Students Association of the Penza Region (Yemen), Miloud Akhlem, a student of the Penza State Technological University (Algeria), Usmanova Benazir, holder of the title «The best international student of PSU - 2021» ( Tajikistan).

Sergey Ivanchin, Head of the International Education Office, emphasized that this event plays an important role in spiritual education of the individual: «Victory Day is, indeed, a holiday with tears in our eyes. This is the day which unites representatives of different nations of the world. And the participation of international students studying in Penza in the event «Thank you, veterans" confirms that.»
