During the seminars, the students assessed the law enforcement agencies in the EU with the view to their structures, types and objectives, as well as defined the role of law enforcement and advocacy in respecting, monitoring and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms. Under the supervision of Evgenii Bitiutskii, the students reviewed the standards of human rights-based law enforcement and advocacy in the EU and generalised the provisions of European Union law with the view to upholding and protecting human rights.

The next lectures and seminars will be devoted to observing the historical and contemporary dimensions and legal frameworks of referendum in the EU.

The EUSOSEL project team represented by Anna Aleksandrova, PhD in Legal Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Legal Disciplines, and Anastasiia Ryzhova, PhD in Legal Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Legal Disciplines, delivered a series of lectures and seminars within the module “Social Security Law in the European Union”.

Under the submodule 2 “Aims and objectives of the EU in the social sphere”, the focuses, aims and objectives of social policy in the EU were interpreted. The students broadened understanding about the level of social development in the EU member states and the relations between the economic and social components in the activity of the EU institutions, bodies and organisations.

Through studying the submodule 3 “Mechanism for implementing EU competence in the social sphere”, the students defined the role of social dialogue and social partnership. At the seminars, the students together with Anna Aleksandrova identified the features in the activity of the European Commission and the European Social Fund, as well as the mechanisms of implementing the social competence in the EU.

The evolution of social security law in the EU, models of social protection in the EU member states and other relevant topics within social law are yet to be explored.

These academic modules are delivered at the Centre for Teaching and Learning Erasmus+ within the ProEU project and the EUSOSEL project, which are supported within the Erasmus+ Programme under the call Jean Monnet Actions in the field of Higher Education.
