Representatives of the Medical Institute of Penza State University became the winners of the 75th International Scientific and Practical Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Topical Issues of Modern Medicine and Pharmacy". The event was held at Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University of the Republic of Belarus from April 20 to 21.

Within the framework of the conference, 17 sections worked, during which 215 reports were heard, made at a high scientific level and reflecting the trends in the development of medicine and pharmacy.

In addition to representatives of the Medical Institute of Penza State University, the event was attended by guests from Tver State Medical University, Ryazan State Medical University named after academician I.P. Pavlov, as well as other universities of the Republic of Belarus.

Sergei Gerashchenko, Deputy Director of the Medical Institute, PSU, spoke at the Plenary session.

As a result of the conference, a student of the department "Medical Cybernetics and Informatics" Elizaveta Akishina with her work "Development of an endodontic block with the function of controlling the depth of penetration of the instrument into the root canal of the tooth" was awarded a diploma of the first degree. Her scientific supervisors were Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor Sergey Gerashchenko and Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Larisa Zyulkina.

The second place in various nominations was awarded to the reports of students of the study field "General Medicine" Maksim Burmistrov, Denis Zhuravlev, Mikhail Demidov and post-graduate student of the department "Medical Cybernetics and Informatics" Andrey Demidov. Their scientific supervisors were Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Larisa Burmistrova and Sergey Gerashchenko.

It is worth noting that on the first day of the conference, an intellectual game "Quiz" was organized for students, where young people were able to show their knowledge in abstract areas. Based on the results of seven rounds, the PSU team took third place.

The participants of the conference were given a tour of Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University, thanks to which the guests were able to get acquainted with the history of the university and its long-term traditions. They also visited the Museum of History of the Vitebsk Folk Art School. Then, they had a tour of the historical center of Vitebsk, which ended with a visit to the Marc Chagall Museum.
