“Penza is like a second home for me”: PSU graduates share their memories and thank their alma mater
The IX Meeting of the International Alumni Club, an organization that brings together the best specialists from different countries of the world who graduated from the university at different times, and aimed at improving international relations, was held at Penza State University. PSU graduates from different years took part in the round table “Mechanisms for strengthening ties between international graduates and PSU”.
Today, PSU is the leader in the region in terms of the number of international students, contributing both to the popularization of Russian education, science and culture, and to the formation of a positive image of Russia abroad. In 2024, 336 students from 20 countries in 23 specialties graduated from Penza State University, of which more than 20 specialists from 10 countries - Tajikistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Angola, Turkmenistan, Algeria, India, Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Indonesia - joined the ranks of the Club members. All graduates received letters of gratitude from PSU Rector, certificates of Club members and badges. As a result of the meeting, the new members of the Club approved a resolution defining further steps to develop the Club and strengthen ties between international graduates and PSU.
In his welcoming speech, Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, conveyed congratulatory words from PSU Rector Aleksandr Guliakov and gave parting words to the graduates: never forget your teachers, remember those who gave you a start in life. You yourself will soon become mentors at your workplaces - you will learn, you will teach. I wish you all good luck, I hope your journey will be successful. We love you and are always waiting for you!”
Graduates of 2024 thanked their mentors, management and staff of the university and the Institute of International Cooperation for the years spent within the university. Lakhani Yash, a young specialist from India, will very soon become the owner of the coveted diploma. His plans are to become a resuscitator. During his 6 years of study, he not only received all the necessary knowledge, but also actively participated in student life: “Thanks to the Student Affairs Department for giving me the opportunity to express myself in different areas. Thanks to KVN and the “International Team” for these unforgettable years.”
Messele Job, originally from Angola, changed his life dramatically a few years ago and came to Russia. After two years of residency he has become a traumatologist-orthopedist. “It's time to start a new path. And I am grateful to the university for everything. It was not easy - there were ups and downs, but this is what shaped me as a person and strengthened my character. There is a great future ahead, thanks to PSU for this!”
By tradition, the Club meeting was attended by graduates of past years, who are now successfully working in different regions of Russia and countries of the world, but do not forget their alma mater. Each of them is happy to share their successes. For example, Rozygul Nurullaeva, a graduate of 2021, continued her studies in Kazan and now works in her specialty as a physiotherapist. Brahim Ali from Chad, who received his diploma in 2020, after graduation entered the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia and became a participant in the first ever visit to the Republic of Chad by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Larov. One of the PSU graduates, Ogundiran Oluwatobi from Nigeria, published his own book, and Parikh Margi from India became a candidate for the title of “Ambassador of Russian Education and Science.” “Student life, more or less, was a new experience that changed me as a person. The memories I have of Penza are some of the best in my life. Penza is like a second home for me. I always stay in touch with the university,” Margie shared.
2025 will be an anniversary year for the International Alumni Club - the organization turns 10 years old. The plans include an extended meeting of the Club, which will be attended by PSU graduates from all over the world, the creation of a page dedicated to the Club on the university website, as well as further expansion of cooperation with those for whom PSU has become an alma mater.
