Professor Aleksandr Guliakov, Rector of Penza State University, Chairman of the University Rectors Council of the Penza Region, Doctor of Law, became a guest of the programme "Relevant facts on important issues" on the TV channel "Russia 24. Penza". He answered a wide range of questions: from the results of the admission campaign to international activities and anniversaries of the Institute of Teacher Education and the Medical Institute of PSU.

How do the teaching staff evaluate first-year students? What fields of study have become the most popular this year? Which programme has the passing score of 289 out of 300 for a budget place? Who is entitled to an additional scholarship from the university? This, as well as new programmes and areas of work, was discussed in the first part of the interview with Rector of Penza State University Aleksandr Guliakov on "Russia 24. Penza" TV channel.

"We are happy to welcome new students every year. PSU first-year students are young and promising and are making plans for the future, full of energy to get a profession, to be useful to society. And naturally, we, the teaching staff, must support them in this matter. This is the meaning of training and education of the young generation," the Rector emphasized.

The Penza delegation, headed by the region's governor Oleg Melnichenko, is currently on an official working visit to Shaanxi Province in the People's Republic of China. The delegation includes the Rector of PSU. The programme of the visit is intensive. On the eve of the trip, Aleksandr Guliakov shared his experience of international cooperation in the field of education:

"We currently have 305 students from China studying at our university. They are very interested in studying the Russian language, international economics, music, and sports. They believe that there is no better music or sports in the world than in Russia. We have quite a lot of students — 155 people — studying in these areas alone. Chinese delegations come to us, and we work actively with them. We will negotiate an academic exchange. By the way, our teachers also teach in China, and then the Chinese come here. We are opening a Chinese Language Center at the university."

Viewers could see the continuation of the conversation on Thursday, October 31, in the programme "Relevant facts on important issues" on "Russia 24. Penza" TV channel at 17:30 and 21:00.
