From 26th till 28th of February, PSU hosted the national symposium with international participation “Education and music in the modern world”, organized by the Department “Music and Methods of Teaching Music”.

The aim of the symposium is to exchange information and creative experience in musical education, to solve problems connected with moral and esthetic education and social and cultural development of personality.

The main scientific areas of the symposium are: philosophical, historical and cultural aspects of education and musical art; formation of social value-based orientations of an individual; traditions and innovations in education and musical art; psychological and pedagogical problems of modern education.

The symposium programme included scientific reports, round tables, seminars, research and methodological presentations and workshops from the leading Russian and international scientists, honorary artists, IX international competition festival of musical art “Silver Lyre”.

At the sectional meetings the reports in the most important problems of modern education, culture and art were made such as: impact of globalization on social and cultural sphere in the modern world, approval of moral and esthetic foundations of musical art in education, strengthening distinctive character in artistic personal developments. Special attention was paid to the prospects of innovative approach both in general and vocational musical and pedagogical education in Russia and abroad.

The symposium participants also focused their attention on the problem of patriotic education with the help of musical culture, art and education.
