PSU held VIII cricket tournament among Indian students
From 16 to 27 May, Penza State University held a traditional cricket tournament among Indian students. This year the tournament was timed to the 80th anniversary of Penza State University. About 150 students - 8 male teams and 3 female teams - participated in the competition. The tournament consisted of 40 games.
The organizer of the tournament was the Indian Students Association of PSU supported by PSU partner Dr. Yuvraaj Solanki, Institute of International Cooperation, Institute of Sport and Physical Training and International Students Association of the Penza region.
"Thanks to the annual cricket tournament, our athletes not only demonstrate a good example of healthy lifestyle to their peers, but also achieve high results at the interregional level. The victory of our team in the Students Sports Festival of the Volga federal district among international students, which took place in Saransk, confirms this”, commented Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, PSU.
The final match was attended by Sergei Ivanchin, Head of the International Education Office; Adel Maqbol, Chairman of the International Students Association of the Penza region; Rohit Patil, Director of Chevalier Group in Russia.
"Dear students! Cricket tournament is one of the most massive, interesting, emotional among sports events of our University. Today you are all winners, I wish you also every day to win yourself and achieve high results in your studies!" Sergei Ivanchin congratulated the participants.
The tournament winners are teams "Black Tigers" (male teams) and "Thunders" (female teams). The team "Royal Strikers" won among boys, and among girls — the team "Chevalier Divas", the best batsman is Bhakta Malkeshbhai (5th year student ), the best bowler and the best player in the games is Marathe Yash (1st year student ), the best player in the final match is Prajapati Shaileshkumar (6th year student).
Rautodhod Surajsinh, this year graduate, made a speech for the players, "I want to say a great thank you to Penza State University and Rector Aleksandr Guliakov for the opportunity to play our national game. I also thank Chevalier Group and Dr. Yuvraaj Solanki for their daily help to Indian students. I will remember the years in Russia as the best years of my life!”
