The intellectual game "Battle of Minds" brings together international students from Penza universities
On Friday, October 17, 2025, the 6th interactive intellectual game "Battle of Minds" was held at the International Space of Penza State University for international students from the Penza Region. The game was organized by the Student Affair Department of the International Education Office, the Institute of International Cooperation, Penza State University, with the support of the Association of International Students of the region.
The "Battle of Minds" intellectual game is designed to test students' sociocultural knowledge and intercultural competences, foster teamwork skills, expand their general intellectual horizons, and establish partnerships between regional universities to implement innovative methods for educating international students.
This year, six teams participated in the "Battle of Minds": Penza State Agrarian University team, Penza State Technological University teams "Vinegret" and "VTUzovtsy," as well as two teams representing Penza State University: the PSU team "Team Name" and the PSU Pre-University Training Department students' team "Tort." Furthermore, the PSU Film and Photo Studio team "RFC" participated for the first time. The international forum brought together representatives from approximately 10 different countries, namely Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Zambia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Libya, Algeria, Congo, and Russia.
The game traditionally consisted of four stages, including questions testing general knowledge and introducing participants to film, music, and world records. Participants were surprised by two modified stages: a musical stage focused on Russia, and a graphic stage featuring Russian riddles.
"I'd like to emphasize the importance of this type of event as a mechanism for fostering a positive image of Russia among international students. Furthermore, the questions were designed to test students' understanding of Russian culture and promote intercultural exchange," noted Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs.
Following the "Battle of Minds" competition, the bronze medalists were international students from Penza State Technological University "VTUzovtsy" and students from the PSU Pre-University Training Department “Tort”. Silver went to the team "Vinegret" from Penza State Technological University. The winner was the team from the Institute of International Cooperation of Penza State University, with the rather original name "Team Name."
