Vice-rectors Gleb Sintsov and Vladimir Simagin held a number of working meetings in the Republic of Belarus

From March 30 to April 1, 2021, Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and Vladimir Simagin, Vice-Rector for Graduate Affairs and Employment, had a working visit to the Republic of Belarus. The PSU delegation arrived in Belarus with the aim of holding negotiations on cooperation in areas of interest to both parties, as well as discussing the possible attraction of applicants from the Republic of Belarus to study at PSU under the Agreement about provision of the equal rights to citizens of the state parties of the Agreement on deepening of integration in economic and humanitarian areas of March 29, 1996 to admission to educational institutions.

On March 30, the PSU vice-rectors visited the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, where they met with Igor Karpenko, Minister of Education, and Irina Shitkovskaya, Head of the international cooperation department of the Ministry. The PSU representatives briefly presented the university, after which the participants of the meeting discussed promising areas of cooperation in the field of higher education and the establishment of international scientific and academic contacts.

On March 31, meetings were held with the rectors of such large Belarusian universities as Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, where the PSU delegation was welcomed by Vadim Bogush, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Republic of Belarus; Belarusian National Technical University, where the PSU vice-rectors were greeted by Georgy Vershina, First Vice-Rector, Candidate of Engineering Sciences. Also, negotiations were held with Maksim Kirkor, Head of Mogilev State University of Food Technologies, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor.

“The Belarusian colleagues assess the development of cooperation between our universities as a promising one. We can implement such areas as organizing activities for preparing and admitting applicants from both states, organizing mobility programmes for teachers and research staff with guest lectures and for conducting joint scientific research, attracting students and post-graduate students to participate in scientific and practical conferences”, reports G.V. Sintsov.

“The colleagues are open to long-term bilateral cooperation, which can achieve significant outcomes: joint publications of WOS and Scopus articles, interchange of educational and methodological materials, holding events for skills development and internships for specialists, applicants, doctoral students, post-graduate students and master’s degree students,” summarizes V. A. Simagin.

On the next day, April 1, the PSU delegation went on an extended excursion to the laboratories, incubators and technological sites of the universities presented above.

Based on the results of the meetings, PSU is going to conduct a systematic analysis of the most promising areas of bilateral cooperation, which are planned to be documented in the form of memoranda on long-term international cooperation during the pending Forum of the Association of Russian and Belarusian Universities.
