In 2021 PSU enrolled more than 800 international students
In 2021, 813 foreign applicants from 24 countries of the world were enrolled in the largest university of the Penza region, which is 25% more than last year. The share of the enrolled international students from the non-CIS states was 57% (464 people), from the CIS states - 43% (349 people). Within the quota of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, 17 foreign applicants were sent to our university, which is 50% more than last year. Thus, at the moment, 2289 foreign students from 46 countries of the world study at PSU. It should be noted that the geography of the countries has expanded, which has already become a good tradition.
The sphere of interests of foreign applicants is wide enough: documents were submitted to all faculties of PSU. Invariably, representatives of the non-CIS states are in special demand for medical specialties implemented using an intermediary language - "General Medicine", "Pharmacy", "Dentistry": 309 foreign citizens from Arab countries and India in 2021 came to Penza State University for high-quality medical education.
Representatives of the countries of Central Asia choose mainly technical specialties at the Polytechnic Institute: “Engineering and Technologies of Electronic Equipment”, “Materials Science and Metal Technologies”, “Instrument Engineering”, “Electronics and Nanoelectronics”, “Power and Electrical Engineering”.
Students from China strive to obtain a musical education at the Department of Music and Methods of Teaching Music, Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Social Sciences. In addition, representatives of China are interested in the study of languages in the field of study "Philology" (department "Russian as a foreign language").
First-year students from Egypt have just arrived in Penza. Now they are undergoing a 14-day quarantine, which is mandatory for students who have arrived from other countries, and will begin their studies very soon. All of them are future dentists. Menatalla Mohamed Lotfi Abdu Awad, a first year student, admits that he approached the choice of the university with full responsibility: “My older comrades studying at Penza State University told me about the university. Here they provide high-quality knowledge, the teachers are very responsive and kind. Russian medical education is highly valued in Egypt. I'm sure I have made the right choice."
Newly enrolled young people are eagerly awaiting the start of classes. “I have been dreaming of becoming a doctor since childhood. It's great that we have the opportunity to get a good medical education. I already want to start gaining knowledge,”says Taha Marwan Ahmed Mohamed.
Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, summed up the results of the admission campaign - 2021: “We believe that the work on admission can be called successful. Despite the difficulties that arose due to the COVID-19 pandemic, applicants eagerly submitted documents to our university, successfully passed the entrance tests organized in a remote format, and complied (and continue to comply) with all the necessary sanitary and epidemiological requirements - they get vaccinated, take PCR tests, and they are under quarantine. Of course, I would like to express special words of gratitude for the organizational support to the general partners of Penza State University - the National Arab-Russian Association represented by General Director Bashir Samakh and the Chevalier Group Company represented by General Director Yuvraajsinh Solanki.
